Executive Position Descriptions
President:
The President runs our monthly meetings, oversees all of our activities including delegating tasks. They are our volunteer coordinator and often act as our ambassador for the program at concerts, events, in the community and at Parent Council meetings. This role is best served by a returning member to the board.
Vice President:
The Vice-President is our event manager. They’ll help oversee volunteers, decorations and be our ground floor support to help make sure that things run smoothly. This position can be a returning member or a new parent joining us.
Treasurer:
The treasurer safeguards our money including maintaining our bank balances, tracking cash flows, writing cheques, managing the cash box, preparing annual statements and submitting a monthly report to the President before each meeting about our balances and cash flows for the month. We will be looking for a new member to take on this role this year. Someone with an accounting background would be ideal, but not absolutely necessary.
Secretary:
Our Secretary sets the agenda for the meetings and communicates to the group. They also take minutes at all of our meetings and they are our AGLC expert. This role is best served by a returning member.
Fundraising Coordinator – Member at Large:
Our fundraising coordinator will search for new fundraising ideas, schedule fundraisers the group and help coordinate volunteers to unpack, sort and hand out orders when needed. This role is perfect for a new member.
Bottle Drive Coordinator – Member at Large:
Our bottle drive coordinator helps schedule bottle drives, picks neighbourhood locations and books the bottle depot truck. They’re the first contact for volunteers on the big day, hand out maps, takes attendance and gives instructions. This role is best served by a returning member because we hit the ground running.
Members at Large:
Attend monthly Music Parent Association meetings and fill in whatever roles are needed. Some roles that a Member at Large can take include:
– Band Liaison
– Choir Liaison
– Special Events (prize rales, silent auctions etc.)
– IT support
– Administrative support
– 50/50 Coordinator
